Syracuse, N.Y — The coffee comes from Italy. The baked goods, and the owner, come from the Long Island area.
Milano Bean Cafe opened in late May at 105 W. Fayette St. in downtown Syracuse. Since then, it has become a go-to spot for lattes, cappuccinos, espresso, muffins, cookies, crepes and more.
“We are very happy to bring our coffee and our big city vibe to downtown Syracuse,” said owner Tiger Adjoor. The cafe opens at 7 a.m. daily and closes at 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Adjoor, a U.S. Army veteran who grew up in Brooklyn before moving to Long Island, has several business interests, including real estate and another Milano Bean Cafe in Bay Shore, Suffolk County.
He recently sold his first Milano Bean Cafe, which opened 11 years ago in East Islip not far from Bay Shore.
He is also the U.S. distributor for Danesi Caffe, a coffee company based in Italy. That’s the coffee used at Milano Bean Cafe.
The pastries and baked goods, which also include New York-style cheesecake and honey balls, are made at a bakery on Long Island, Adjoor said.

Adjoor decided to open a Syracuse location for his cafe while pursuing an unrelated real estate deal. He discovered the available storefront location on West Fayette Street, which most recently housed the Luna Food Lovers deli. Before that it held a Jimmy John’s franchise location.
“I really like Syracuse,” Adjoor said. “While we are bringing a New York City look and feel to the cafe, and some of the culture of Milan, we think downtown Syracuse is a great fit.”
Adjoor said he’s not done in Central New York. He’s now working on another new location for Milano Bean Cafe in downtown Cortland.
