It’s been about a year since I first visited Cake Minkeg and I almost forgot how good they are.
I haven’t eaten a ding dong since I was a kid and this spot makes them soooo good. But here they call it a Cakewich ($5.35). It’s moist, not too sweet, with a fudgy coating and it just tastes so much better from a real deal bakery. And just the right cream filling ratio to the cake
I also tried the brownie cookie ($3.95). Also fudgy, chewy, yet not too sweet. I wasn’t a fan of the powdered sugar coating, it didn’t add too much sweetness but I think it dried it out so it threw off the bite in an odd way. Not quite sure how to describe it but nonetheless, it was still a solid cookie!

i like cake monkey a lot, and i like them even more when they show up on toogoodtogo 😈
omg this place is amazing. i used to work with someone that worked there too and they would always bring in a bunch of goodies for everyone, it was the BESSSSST!! their vegan chocolate chip cookies are so good. also, i haven’t asked but i’m 98.5% sure document coffee in ktown sources their baked goods from here
I don’t think it’s underrated? I mean, I’ve been going there for years and they stay busy. They have a pretty loyal fan base.
Love me some Cake Monkey!
Genuinely curious, do any of you find their stuff too sweet? I used to get their pastries occasionally at a local cafe but I always found their stuff too sweet.
The El Rollo looks like I need about a dozen.
They have really good seasonal items too
Best GF cake around.
The best!!!
Meh not great
lovely !
I LOVE their banana bread with chocolate chips and a sugar topping
It’s all healthy stuff? GF, DF, etc?
Hmm still looks good though
I love them & miss when they had wider distribution at markets & cafes across LA – now that I can only reliably get them at their shop on Beverly it’s a once in a blue moon treat (tho that’s prolly better for my pancreas anyway lol)
Their blueberry lemon frangipane pie is incredible!
Oh it’s great. They supply a lot of coffee shops too like paper or plastic on Pico. I use them too for breakfast pastries for my annual conference and never disappoints.
Their loaves are so good. The chocolate one and others. Very good.
