My first sourdough loaf! Started my starter on 6/8.
Ingredients:
• 500g flour
• 375g water
• 75g starter
•11g salt
Combine ingredients, let rest for about 30 min.
Stretch and fold (about 7-9 times) every 30 minutes, 4 times.
Left in oven to rise for about 5-6 hours
Cold proofed in fridge from 6pm – 12pm the following day
Baked in a pre-heated Dutch oven on 450F for 30 minutes and then 15 minutes at 400F with the lid off
Definitely will be using more starter next time. I would love more of that ‘sour’ taste. It’s definitely there, but I want more!!
Also wishing it was a little more airy on the inside and not so dense. Going to be trying again tomorrow but skipping the cold proof and see how it turns out.
Would love any feedback, tips, or suggestions.

I’d let her bulk ferment a little longer & proof a little longer, but she looks delicious!!! Doing the 2 things I suggested would make it a little less dense. I’m definitely no expert, just a few things I’ve picked up along the way. 🙂
Looks good for first attempt! Would like to see a more open crumb and moderate scoring but if it tastes great, that’s what really counts.
Wow it looks great for first rey
Looks amazing. My first attempt didn’t look nearly as good. Well done. But the true test. What does it taste like?? Have fun. If you want the great sour dough sandwich bread. Look for the Sourdough lady on YouTube. It’s easy and my family loves it.
Oh my that is a gorgeous loaf 🥰
That looks great! Much better than my first loaf. If you are interested in trying a different way of making sourdough and don’t want to faff around with all the stretch and folds I’ll look up Patrick Ryan on YouTube. Not only is he lovely to listen to but also makes the process so much simpler!
