Brick lane doesn’t mess around, went there last November! Had Phal at Bengal Village and Aladin but avoided the sign a waiver death curry

”Still, the one at Bengal Village contains 72 spices from around the world, including the Carolina reaper, scotch bonnet, various forms of naga and bird’s eye, and one from Bangladesh called the “snake chilli”. Mr Raj also mentioned the “pook morich”, or “fly chilli”.”

Not sure what’s worse, the deep burn or that dude yammering nonstop in my ear.

Does Phal stick to a recipe in terms of peppers or is it simply as hot as it can be made with whatevers available?

Had my first phal the other day when drunk with the lads. Was very hard work and I made a meal of it but I finished it. 10/10 would do it again as tasted lovely even with all the pain.

Has anyone who is initiated to spice been to one of these places? As in are they really that hot?
I go to some place near work for Phalls occasionally and they hit the spot but I don’t need to go topless and drink milk on the pavement outside…

“It does get to the back of your throat a bit… have some water…”
Might be the worst advice any person told anyone eating very spicy food.

Compared to a Carolina reaper, is it spicier?

I enjoy spicy food, but dishes like this are a chemical weapon at this point
