My first 2* experience and it was extremely underwhelming. Food was great but nothing that wowed me. The petite fours were very heavy on the caramel and chocolate notes which became way too rich for the end. The two pictures I attached were the highlights. The bread, especially the flakey one was Guinness infused croissant like bread. The second picture is a raw shrimp, caviar and pomelo cream which had very complimentary flavors.

What let me down the most was the service. I dined in a group of two and there are times where dishes were not presented together. We also almost forgot our shopping bag that we checked in. Comparative to other 1* I've been where the host has it prepared as you are leaving.

I read from other posts here that Chapter One was vying for a third star however this 2* experience ranks low compared to some really great 1* experiences I've had in NYC, Portugal and Thailand.

  1. You didn’t get your plates at the same time? That’s nuts. Does one of you have special dietaries or something? Not that that would be any excuse, but how else could they possibly mess that up?

  2. Last time I ate there the service was absolutely superb. In fact, one of the complaints often made is that the service is a bit OTT. (Guibauld’s is a bit more relaxed in that regard.) That’s surprising to hear.
