I tried every thing for my grand test: every major brand, part skim, whole, higher moisture, lower moisture, and ended up on these. Perfect saltiness (on the high side), good stringability with nice distinct strings, not too wet (hello Galbani whole milk), good piquant flavor, and its organic to boot. O Organics Part Skim String Cheese.

Cheese is cheese

BTW Does anyone know who makes these for Safeway? Curious.

I thought I was the only one on this quest but I guess not. I landed on hannaford brand whole milk as the best for saltiness and stringability. I’ll have to try these tho.

Wait really? Never tried it but im surprised as fuck

Oh as far as methodolgy, I wanted to note that I was very aware of recency bias. That is, you buy the latest one, it tastes way better than mean, and so it goes to the top of your list. I corrected for this by doing a final head to head test with Frigo Cheeseheads, Galbani, Sargento, Whole Foods, Walmart, and this. Still particularly unique at the end of it.

I’m afraid I haven’t met a string cheese I’ve ever liked. Salty rubber with no flavour IMO

It’s Burnett Co-op from Grantsburg, Wisconsin for me.

Fun fact: My all time favorite cheese is Fromager d’Affinois double cream Brie. I will eat the whole wheel. So I am not biased against creamy cheeses, I just realized in a string cheese, different aspects are the most desirable.

Personally Galbani is my top.

Cedar valley cheese in Wisconsin has the best string cheese imo, bonus points if you get it fresh straight from the factory! It is so stringy and salty 🤤 I spend so much money on cheese every time I visit.

What are your other fav’s for those of us that don’t have Albertsons?
Whether you can get it where you are is another question, but believe me when I say Don Froylan’s is on another level.

This is A+ content. Where do I follow for more news that truly matters?!!!

Wait how is Polly-o not on here? I consider it the gold standard for string cheese.

Am I going to get downvoted for thinking cheesehead is the best?

Frigo is my favorite. I get the giant pack from Costco

Cedar valley cheese store gets my vote. It’s a little too salty, but some good stuff.

Cesar’s String cheese (Wisconsin). They are in a league of their own.

The last time I had Frigo Cheese heads they tasted way different than how I remembered them, they used to have an after taste that I liked but now they tasted lower quality, almost rubbery maybe? I’m scared to get more but it’s my favorite brand besides polio

Awesome TY! I’ll grab some!

Very random, but the best string cheese I’ve ever had was from Starbucks of all places lol
