Yeah, it seems pretty doubtful. I’m guessing closer to 600?
ihansterx4i
The mayo alone on top that middle row is probably about 100 calories
BBC_TORPEDO
Ngl there’s no way that’s 230.
You think 5 of those is only 1,150 cals?
catyesu
I’m not sure how they calculated it but I feel like the rice alone must be that amount. I used to work at a sushi restaurant and the ball of rice the chefs spread onto a single roll was definitely at least half a cup. also, sushi rice is actually made with a surprising amount of sugar (to balance the rice vinegar). I think it’s reasonable to say you have at least a cup of (short grain) rice in that box, which the internet says is around 250 calories.
garapoes
I think they count 1 piece as 1 serving.
tealparadise
I’d guess about 1 cup rice, 0.25 of an avocado, and 4oz fish. Plus about 150 for sauce and crunchies.
Sdpadrez
Did you try weight the contents of the package. That would definitely tell you if it’s more than 189g
Chaff5
I would 3x it. I know it’s printed as 1 serving = 1 package but a roll is usually like 2 servings or 8 pieces. You have 12 in there. So it’s probably supposed to be 3 servings.
parkwithtrees
Imma go with 430
SwordmanGuts
On average every piece of sushi is 40-45 calories. I think I see 13 pices here with mayo and some avocado, so let’s say 45 calories per pieces : 13×45=585 calories.
Tamtambanane
Says for 189grams. I doubt there’s only one serving in there, I’d weigh it and adjust
Reverend_Mikey
It’s not as much food as you think, but probably more than 230 calories.
Think about it – the only real calories here are from the rice, mayo, avocado, and tempura bits.
That’s probably a half cup of rice, two slices of avocado, a tbsp of mayo and maybe 2 tbsp of tempura bits. All the fish added together would probably equal about 100 calories, so 230 might be low, but I’d say it’s not that far off.
TheProletariatPoet
Check the weight. It says 1 package is 180g. This seems way more than that so the calories might be correct based on the weight
10_a_knut
Salmon nigiri is 135 calories for two small-medium pieces. Tuna is 70. I’ll estimate the 9 maki pieces as a salmon avocado roll at 300, plus 1 tbsp of spicy mayo (100) + the fried topping (1 tbsp at 50 calories according to MFP). Call it around 650?
existential_antelope
Their printed labels are premade while the food is made fresh, so it’s not accurate at all. The system for labeling sushi should probably be revised
sharilynj
230 for just the fish is more like it.
corporate_goth86
I put it through my Cal AI app and this is what I got.
I wish I liked sushi. It seems like it would be easier to keep calories low.
cute_innocent_kitten
Yeaaahhh, its def not
HaymakerGirl2025
It’s not.
MrDownhillRacer
I never order sushi when I’m actually hungry, because I know I’ll still be hungry after it and will just eat more and more.
Counter-intuitively, I eat it when I’m _not_ hungry. As a treat when I’m eating for flavour rather than for sustenance.
I also find a similar strategy works with sweets. If I have candy when I’m hungry, I’ll just eat more and more candy and consume a lot of calories. If I have candy when I’m not even hungry, it’s easier to stop after a sensible amount.
Rosemarysage5
Get rid of the rice and eat sashimi only
lexivance7
likely mislabeled, put the wrong sticker on the package
widge14
189g is suspicious. My 2/3 cup of yogurt weighs 170g.
Bluedodgerfan
This happens to me that they mislabel the actual sushi and the calories is for with thing completely different.
Bluedodgerfan
Just 189 grams of rice is about 250
facebookyouknow
My ignorant bless let’s me think these sushi packs are labeled correctly. I know deep down it’s not true.
brattcatt420
Its probably closer to 400, some of yall saying 600 should be ashamed of yourselves. There absolutely no way this is 600 calories, and trying to act like it is when that would literally be half of their calorie intake for the day according to this sub is sick.
I used to get a 10 piece sushi roll that I loved. They labeled it at like 700 calories, and I knew it was BS. They later changed it to 350.
Everyone saying there’s a tablespoon of mayo on there should get their eyes checked, at most, there’s half a tbs.
JackSpadesSI
Seems somewhat plausible if the entire middle roll is removed.
Mister_Uncredible
The answer is simple, weigh it. The label is likely accurate for the weight listed, whether or not that’s how much it actually weighs will answer the question.
anormalgeek
Salmon nigiri is about 60-90kcal EACH. Tuna is slightly less. But I’d estimate just those 4 pieces at about 230 kcal but themselves.
SadLaser
Package says Chef Special 8. Makes me wonder if it were made for an 8-piece nigiri special rather than what’s stuffed in there.
blueeyesshined13
Byerlys? Lmao I got some yesterday and mine was 430 calories with just plain rice and fish no sauce or veggies.
Cheshie213
So here are my estimates. Roughly.
Nigiri is usually about 15-20g of rice and .5oz of fish per piece. Rice is around 35 calories per oz. Salmon is about 55 calories per ounce. Tuna is about 35 calories per ounce. So the nigiri alone is somewhere around 180 calories.
For the rolls, it’s probably about the same amount of fish and rice, maybe a bit more, but those numbers are very rough without weighing. So for the fish and rice alone, we are talking probably 370-400 calories.
Most sushi rolls use about half an avocado. This looks like it might be a bit less, so let’s say 1/3. That’s probably another 80 calories. The spicy mayo is probably about a tablespoon or so, which I would say is about 50 calories. There really isn’t a ton of the tempura flakes, so that’s maybe about 30 calories if that. So that’s an extra 130 for all three.
So, a decent estimate is somewhere between 500 and 600 calories. Not sure where they came up with their number, but it’s for sure not right.

230 calories of rice, maybe. Lol
