I dropped in for a late breakfast today at Citizens on Burnet and the guy working the bar said he had just finished making a Vegemite syrup for a new espresso martini recipe.

He said they plan to offer a 99-cent espresso martini at happy hour starting today. The catch is you can get one for .99, the rest are regular happy hour price. Menu says that’s $10.

It was barely 11am but I was intrigued by the opportunity to try something new so gave the Vegemite Espresso Martini a try. It’s not as weird as it sounds. Very strong coffee forward flavor with just a little salty/savory finish. They used Tito’s and Mr. Black coffee liqueur. Very happy I tried it. I applaud creative cocktail making with an entry price that’s easy to swallow. Cheers!

I live around the corner. I was walking the dog and spoke to someone coming out from eating breakfast. They raved about it. Hope they make it. They appear to be always crowded so early returns are positive

Has anyone had the steak frites there? And how are the sauces?

Had breakfast there this morning. Got the Vege Breakfast Burrito and it was fantastic. Their take on it includes pickled cabbage which I found a delightful surprise! Wife had the avocado test and she also really liked it. Finally we shared the banana bread French toast which was also delicious.

Def adding to our breakfast/brunch shortlist

Great! Let’s get more people drunk and on the road. Guess the city is starving from money, need more DWI! Makes sense why Greg Abbott won’t veto
