Absolutely incredible chicken and experience. OG location and chatted with the owner, Ernesto, who is a great and humble dude!

Best non-Korean fried chicken in the whole damn city, IMO

  2. I’ve never had the tendies cuz i just love the chicken so much. Is it any good?

I also fuck up some gizzards there ugh. So good.

  3. I grew up eating this back in the 80s. I haven’t been back in probably 25+ years. I read the article about the grandkids taking it over and sticking to all the original recipes which is awesome.

Shit. I may have to go back. Haven’t been in a while… it’s my childhood!

I’ve brought this chicken to many parties and it is always a huge hit. LA locals especially love to hear it’s from Pioneer and that the place still exists. Total sleeper hit

Fish style frying of chicken just never sits right with me

I swear it seems Pioneer Chicken has been getting good PR on socials lately. Maybe they will once again start expanding?

Love that place. I don’t think there are many locations left, glad that one is still going strong.

Place is disgusting!! I knew I should have turned around after noticing B rating heath card posted at door. Give me church’s, Popeyes any day or even KFC

Pioneer Chicken logo and the King Taco logo need to have a cage match.

I used to hit up the Pioneer in Echo Park all the time in the late 90s. Way better than KFC. RIP.

Spending a lot more time in Boyle Heights lately I’m glad I saw this

  17. Pioneer chicken, Naugles and Pup N Taco were my 70s childhood favorites.

  18. I wanna say this location tastes better. Been going to the other location since it’s a bit closer to me. But I used to goto this location since it was closer to work at the time.
