WASHINGTON (7News) — The 33rd Annual Barbecue Battle is taking over part of Pennsylvania Avenue this weekend, offering a smoky feast with pitmasters from across the country showcasing their unique flavors and cooking techniques.
Attendees can enjoy free barbecue and other food samples throughout the event, which runs today and Sunday.
“It’s interesting to have something this large in the capital of the United States where it’s multicultural,” D.C. grill designer Andrew Majett said. “It’s a style of cooking that different groups enjoy eating, it’s food that is cooked naturally with wood or with charcoal.”
Whatever the case might be, it’s an outdoor affair.
The festivities continue tonight until 9 p.m. and resume tomorrow, featuring a military chef cook-off and live music on three stages, including performances of go-go music.
