Hey all, my buddy wants to buy my egg bc I just don’t use it enough. I have like 800 in it it’s a Large and I have to clean it but what would you sell it for to a friend? Only use it like 15 times.

Did you buy it new? If so maybe 500 and if it breaks you could claim the warranty for him. Also turn it around – your egg is on the nest backwards.

Sell it to him for a dollar. When he asks for your help to lift it, $1000

I paid 500. Same situation. Got a cover too

I’m all about buying a Big Green Egg for a good deal. Your friend is probably in line to get a great one too! I know you’re not necessarily looking for advice on this, but just in case — I’d recommend giving your friend a heads-up that the warranty doesn’t transfer and base the price off that. You might’ve already mentioned that to him, though.

Speaking from experience — I bought a Large from a friend about 10 years ago, and a few months in, I noticed the firebox had a clean split. I was extremely careful during assembly, and I didn’t even spot the damage until I was cleaning it out. Not sure if it was because of something I did or what. It was just a huge surpise. And honestly, it wasn’t that big of a deal. I could’ve continued using as is with not any problems since these components just sort of sit in place. It wasn’t too expensive to replace, but the local dealer wouldn’t even talk to me about warranty coverage since the Egg wasn’t originally purchased in my name. That’s when I learned how strict Big Green Egg is about sticking to their policy.

Officially, the warranty only applies to the original purchaser from an authorized dealer, and it’s non-transferable. That said, if you still have the original purchase documentation, it’s worth passing it along. It doesn’t guarantee coverage, but it might give your friend a better shot if something ever goes wrong.

Update, I just finally saw one of the other comments where you had bought it from an estate sale originally so never mind all this warranty talk lol. I’ll sell it for what you bought it for. Sell for more if anyone else.

This might be controversial but I’m gonna pivot – start using it instead.

Depends on how close the friend is and your financial situation. Personally, I’d just gift it.

He would literally have to pay me to sell it to him, so tough to say.

Is your friend just considering taking it off your hands for you? Or does your friend genuinely want it badly? If the large was $1200 retail, i’d say used $500-600 ish if you tried to list it online. Probably about half of retail. If its your good friend, taking even less would compensate for having to list the thing, having people no show, letting a stranger come over to your house, putting up with any BS they might try to pull, your time, etc…

Really good friend? I’d probably just let them have it.

Do him a solid and give it to him..I’m sure you will need him sometime in the future..!

For a true close friend $400, for a “close friend” $500

In this forum, we see a lot of eggs going at garage sales for $200-$350ish… if it’s a friend, and your not going to use it, I would put it up for public sale (local pickup only) at $600 in ur local area. If u don’t get a better offer than $500, I would just hook ur buddy up for like $300. That thing is in great shape, and u have the new top that is much better than the original daisy wheel.
