A French woman has explained the ‘correct’ ways of cutting into different types of cheese, saying there are ‘unwritten rules’ as to how you should dig into different variants of cheese

All cheese lovers will agree that there’s nothing quite as satisfying as the rich taste of their preferred type, whether it’s paired with crackers on a cheese board, sandwiched between bread, or melted into a warm fondue.

But when it comes to slicing it up for you to enjoy, either alone or with others, things can get a bit tricky as some cheeses tend to stick to the knife or fall apart easily while slicing. Thankfully, some cheese connoisseur have found a simple yet effective method to overcome this problem. To perfectly slice up cheese, either for yourself or for a cheese board, French native Eva, who now lives in Australia, has shared insight on how to neatly cut various types of cheese.

“We cut the cheese according to their shape,” she explained in a TikTok video.

Jumping in to a tutorial for how to cut different types of cheese, she starts off with one common favourite – the camembert. She explained: “When you have a round cheese like Camembert, we cut parts as we cut parts of pizza.”

Eva advises using a similar method when dealing with wedge-shaped cheeses, such as blue cheese. The recommendation is to slice from the narrow middle towards the wider edge, so that each piece resembles a tiny triangle.

“And we continue in this way to the other side,” Eva explained as she continued slicing the blue cheese.

Turning to a wedge of Brie and similarly shaped options, she suggested: “For the Brie, the pointy cheeses we can cut ‘morsels’, like this,”
