No one needs a fancy grill, the extra space is the only reason i would upgrade from my good ole weber

Anything will work. All that matters is having fun and eating your experiment.

If u search how to spatchcock a chicken, it takes like 3 minutes and cooks so evenly its honestly a life hack. I set my grill on low, and leave it there for an hour and its always the perfect 175-180°.

  5. It’s not the equipment, it’s the expertise.

  6. For $30 you could have gotten a used Weber kettle that’ll last you another decade. Look into one of those when this thing falls apart.

Fire, space for oxygen, food. A sharp knife and fork. All part of the good lords plan! Carry on son 🤘🤘

  8. I have one of these and it works great. A couple things I’ll caution you on though:

1: don’t leave a whole pineapple in it and forget about it. (It will be fully cooked through and burnt to shit the next day)

2: don’t leave a grill basket of veggies in it and forget about it. (It will be fully cooked through and burnt to shit the next day)

Hypothetically: these may happen at the same time.

That’s all you need is grates or rocks if you’re out camping and fuel and meat no matter what you’ll be fine

There is one of these on the curb in my neighborhood

Respect! Love it when resourceful and creative people “just make it work!”. Very cool!
    Looks delicious! Enjoy!

I also got my charcoal grill from Walmart. I love using it.

  13. Yes they do! You know how to cook you know how to cook!

Some of the best carne asada I’ve made have been on that grill.

    It’s definitely a workhorse.

I still have an old Aussie Walkabout grill that makes the best wings out of one of the other 3 outdoor cooking implements I have.

I once grilled on a dollar store grill for a year with legs that had broken off. I had a big ass pecan log that I covered and just set it on top of. Every day for a year.

I never learned how to place the charcoal or how to manage the charcoal or how to get it properly lit.

I can never get it hot enough. And when I have gotten it hot enough I feel like it burns out too quickly.

Definitely good for the budget, in a pinch, or if you just need this amount of real estate to grill. I have an Akorn ceramic because it’s the right size for me and the dog at the apt and I can use it as a smoker

Damn $20 is a steal, these are $49 all year at my Walmart

I have one that we use when we take the travel trailer out. It gets the job done.

This method you used to be a solid coming out of college, poolside summer….

Getting coals extremely hot… place them along the perimeter of farthest away from meat.. then taking a firebox with wood chips, and using it as a fire shield.

I always added the veggies and fruits about 75% of cook time marker… honestly, what came out of it were some of the best compliments on my grilling career.

I’m on my second summer with mine. Cooking during the winter too, and it’s still doing great. Even smoked with it. For twenty dollars, I don’t mind replacing it if I have to. But I haven’t had to. Lol.
