Are they saying to use only 1 tablespoon from this mix of theirs? Or was I supposed to buy another mix?
Sorry, I'm confused with their instructions here. I'm sure they mean to just use a tablespoon of their mix, but that seems like very little.

Add some more then. It’s really a matter of taste.

Yes they mean one tablespoon of the mix in that bag. Personally I’d add 3-4 of it because that small 1 tablespoon isn’t gonna really add enough flavor.

It’s their mix. Look at the serving size and number of servings in the bag.

Serves 48 at serving size of 1/32 tablespoons(? Just says t?). This isn’t looking like the best mix if you just want a pour and go. This is definitely something you’ll need to play with to find the right balance you’re looking for.

Yeah I’m just pouring all that in. It’s only 1.5T anyway.

For a large roast, i would use this entire thing. Consider it will also be watered down further by juices surrounding it, from the cooking process. I think when they say one serving, they mean one serving of the meat, after the fact

The instructions also need more salt

That seems like an absurdly low amount. It *has* to be for the nutrition panel, surely? Why would a company suggest such a conservative amount at the expense of people using more than necessary (and thus purchasing more frequently), except for the nutrition panel? I’m so flummoxed!

What does the recipe on the inside of the label say?
CommonEarly4706
they want you to sear the meat with 1 tbsp of this dry mix with the flour rubbed on it then add the remaining mix to cook the pot roast
kellyoccean
I would say just the 1tbsp of the mix you have.
AgreeableHospital670
Package says 48 servings per package. I would go to their website site for more info before using it. Obviously mistakes were made on the packaging.
LuvsDaOcean
Why would they want you to use a tbsp for a roast but have a serving size of 1/32 teaspoons. Hate it when packages do stuff like that.
Like an individual bag of chips has a serving size of 4 chips.

You can get a pack of au jus and a pack of ranch for like $3 total if that. Why would you buy this?
Pithythithy
That OG recipe calls for dry Ranch and Au jus mix. That is probably exactly what this is.

Curious how much that cost you. Not counting the beef roast, the ingredients to make 3 of them should cost you about 11 usd. About 3.70usd each roast for seasonings
Calculated from my local pnw prices using 1/3rd an au jus packet, a 1 packet off a 3 pack of uncle Dan’s ranch mix, 1/3rd a jar of pepperoncini with a 1/3rd of juice and a 1/3rd stick of butter. Thats how I make it.
I can’t use a whole au jus, way too salty, dont need a full stick of butter with all the beef fat that makes up the difference. But gotta use a full uncle Dan’s ranch packet, cuz nothing better than uncle Dan’s.

For my version of it I use the following. 1 packet ranch seasoning. 1 pack au juix seasoning. 1 jar of pepperoncini (pour liquid in crockpot). That’s it and turns out fantastic every time.
Full recipe below:
Mississippi pot roast
INGREDIENTS * 1 (3 to 4 lb.) venison/ beef roast * Cooking oil with a high smoke point * 1 (1 oz.) packet ranch seasoning * 1 (1 oz.) packet au jus seasoning (omit for less salt) * 1 stick butter, cubed * 1 (16 oz.) jar whole pepperoncini ALSO WORKS WITH Any large roast or shank
1. Heat a large cast iron skillet to medium-high with enough cooking oil to just coat the bottom. Sear the exterior of the roast until golden brown all over, then place directly into slow cooker.
2. Evenly distribute contents of ranch and au jus seasoning packets over roast. Then place the entire stick of butter and the jar of pepperoncini-including the juice-in the slow cooker as well.
3. Secure the lid and cook on low for 8 hours. (If you need dinner faster, you can cook on high for 4 to 5 hours, or use a pressure cooker and get it done in an hour. However, I think low and slow will yield the best results. And if you don’t have a slow cooker, a dutch oven in a 325°F oven for 8 hours

I’d use this on something else entirely to be honest. I make a personal version of the Mississippi Pot roast at least once a month because it’s a favorite in my family. I can almost guarantee that it will taste a LOT better if you just used the meat, one packet of ranch seasoning, one packet of au jus, 1/2 stick of butter, and pepperoncinis to your liking. The only things I do different is add 1/2 cup water because I mix the ranch and au jus in the water and then pour it in. I add onions and mushrooms if I make it while my daughter is at her dad’s because she doesn’t like mushrooms.
