I found this brand new out of the box Classic II at my local Lowe's for $800. This is my first grill purchase above $100. Did I get a good deal?

Yeah good deal for you, and if you take care of her for your children too.

  2. This appears to be a classic 1. You can tell by the daisy wheel top, hinge is likely the spring instead of airlift, felt gasket, and no locking mechanism at handle. Either way great pickup!

After you cook with it, you will see what look like little cracks on the exterior. This is called crazing and is completely normal.

    Edit: changed glazing to crazing.

  3. Your gonna love smoking on that thing. Id recommend a charcoal basket. They sell some cheaper versions on amazon. The official one is way over priced. Its going to give you better air flow in general rather than that piece of crap grate that sits at the bottom. Make this switch asap.

Some heat gloves are nice if you dont have any. Adding the deflectors and x rack when your fire is already being brought up can get hot on your hands.

A kick ash can is also a good upgrade BUT they are impossible to find right now. The website has them on a wait list, and I haven’t been able to find one to buy anywhere.

Lastly you could (but not necessary) buy a 3rd party fan controller of some kind. People swear by Fireboard around here. I personally like the Breezo fan + S1 gauge. Also some good meat thermometers to track your cook
