I had been looking on market place for an inexpensive Large egg to compliment my Medium. Only a family of 3 so really don’t need anything bigger. Grabbed this Lg for $400 with conveggtor, iron grate, nest, daisy wheel, rib rack, side tables and a large bag of hickory. I think it was a pretty good price. Everything was intact but dirty. Sprayed the nest with some Rustoleum, scraped off the old gasket and stuck a Rutland on. Bought an ash basket and did a clean burn. Seasoned up the cast iron. Found an expander on my Vine account and fired up 3 racks on a double decker.
What a noticeable difference between the start ups and even temps between my medium and this large. The medium is great but this is a notch up. Even the clean burn was off the charts. Easily at 800 and I had to shut it down but boy did it cook the crap off the old cast iron. It looked new when I was done with it. Feels good to finally be in the Large club.
