Ever since my last run of covid, my spice tolerance is through the roof. Would like to see how far I can really push it. The spiciest level at rowdy rooster doesn’t even faze me anymore…

  1. Get yourself to Flushing and get the hottest dry hot pot you can find

Brick lane Curry house (i think they only have locations in Jersey now) used to have this insanely spicy curry called Phaal.

You could also go to Abiko Curry in Ktown. You can pick a range of spiciness for your tonkatsu curry, and it can be pretty fierce.

Edit: Also if you go to a korean Pocha (korean bar restaurant) and they have Dak Bal or spicy chicken feet, that’s also pretty famous for melting faces.

I know it’s a chain, but Dave’s Hot Chicken is legit spicy and their spiciest (reaper level) will test anyone’s limit.

    Brick lane curry

    Ugly baby

    Mudville9

    Sigiri (dangerous)

Zaab Zaab (tell them that you’re after the spiciest thing they have – “Thai spicy”)

Zaab Zaab. I know Thai food pretty well, and I’d say it’s probably spicier than it needs to be. I know a few Thais who avoid that place bc they think it’s too spicy.

Hug Isan is pretty spicy too. Better food imo. A little more balanced. You can ask them to turn up the spice though.

    Jack’s Fire Department in Sunnyside.

The place was on Bar Rescue years ago and the show put in a spicy grilled cheese challenge. Long grilled cheese that gets hotter as you go. Did it a few years ago and won a t-shirt. Next day wasn’t as fun.

Not entirely sure they still have it though.

  7. Hug Esan and Playground for Thai, just be insistent that you really want it Thai hot, and that you understand that it’s legit Thai hot, and they’ll do it. They both go further than Zaab Zaab does I think.

Mountain House has a ‘pepper lovers’ dish that is about the only time I’ve been out spiced by Chinese food, it’s tasty but not enjoyable.

You can try Rowdy again and see if they can make it level 5. People have said it’s still available, but I kinda doubt it. Level 5 was just a mistake, 3 (what I think they currently cap out at) is ‘fine’ in my books.

    Just eat reapers?

RIP Buffalo Cantina. They used to have an extreme hot wing challenge. I almost tried it once, but I’m not really a big eater and I was more worried about getting full after just a few wings than the heat.

Now I’m old and I’d be as afraid of the heat as the getting full part. I don’t know if everyone’s like this, but my ability to handle spiciness has declined as I’ve aged.

  9. Rowdy rooster has some very spicy chicken levels.

Firecracker wings. Get the hottest sauce they have. I also have an insane spice tolerance and this absolutely skull fucked me.

If you tell Somtum Der to make it Thai spicy, it’s going to be wild.

There’s a placed called birdies. Maybe hottest food I’ve had. Make you sign a waiver. I don’t particularly think it was good it’s a dry heat, but definitely will test you.

Red bamboo (a vegan restaurant) near wsp does the hot ones challenge. For ~$25 you get a milk shake, a plate of vegan wings and the 10 sauces from the show… it was a very fun challenge to do with friends, most sauces weren’t too bad but da bomb sauce killed us

They supply the wings for vegan guests on the show, guessing that’s why they do this

  14. I’d go to the old Ugly Baby location (new restaurant by same staff) and just tell them to wreck you.
