While walking my dog the other day I found this out on the curb in front of someone’s apartment and hauled it back to mine. It was pretty heavy to trek back with for half a mile, but worth it!

It was in great condition and just needed a quick and mild cleaning. I haven’t used the sides with the grades yet as I’m not 100% sure what would be best on that. It worked great on my cheapie nexgrill sautéing some fajita veggies. I paired them with some shrimp on skewers that I clearly did not soak for long enough.

I seared some Carne Asada on it last night but forgot to take pictures as we were too hungry lol. All in all, I’m very happy with this score.

I would love to hear your experiences with cast-iron skillets on the grill and any tips or ideas y’all have, especially for grated side. Happy summer and happy grilling!

  1. I’d always be hesitant on found cast iron in the dumps or on the road. At the very least a lead testing kit or mercury kit to see if those nasty heavy metals touched it.

All hazards aside, nice find! 😃

I have the same one by Lodge. I use it often. Lodge makes a scraper that has teeth that are a perfect fit for the raised side so you can thoroughly clean it.

    Congratulations on the great find.

You people that use found on the road cooking equipment are incredibly brave.

Nice! I use one of those to make fajitas on the grill.

I have that one, it’s a little heavier than my other griddle so i don’t use it as much because it takes forever to heat up. Would be great for smashburgers on the grill though so it’s now going to live out there.
