So my contractor replacing my deck moved this without me having remembered to caution him how to move it and he broke it.
It seems like the metal ring connecting the hinge to the body is totally bent. It came detached from the bottom ceramic and seems to have cracked a bit of the rim.
I’m especially nervous about the cracked ceramic. It seems that it might just be the bottom one bent. So I’m hoping that I can get away with just replacing that metal ring on the bottom and not the whole mechanism and lid or god forbid a total loss.
How screwed am I here? Where do I begin getting this fixed? Think I can do this myself? Is this going to be wildly expensive?

It’s gone. I’ve only seen mixed results with ceramic crack repair let alone with the bent metal. You can always reach out to support and get their opinion.
I would say you need at least a new bottom. Idk if the tweaked the rings too. Were they using the hinge as a lift point?
Seeing that cracked ceramic is gut wrenching. I bought mine used so know nothing about warranty. Hopefully you’ll get more advice from others. Tough one
Did he move it by picking it up by the hinge with a backhoe? How does that even happen? I’d start with trying a warranty claim and if that failed would probably just buy a new grill unless I could find replacement ceramics, hinge, and ring relatively cheap.
It’s gone unfortunately, can’t fix that. Contractor is going to have to make it right
First there arerepairs that can be done the crack may mot even be that bad. I would need to see more it might be just a chip which as long as it does not effect your seal it would be allright 1
You might be able to unbolt the rings and try and get them straightened out.. the slot for the bolds seems ‘mostly’ intact. I would certainly try it as you work with your contractors’ insurance.
Hella.
Meh. Don’t be a bunch of doomsayers… it just looks like a chip from the one closeup. The ring just looks bent because it’s tweaked from the lid sitting on it and the tensioning the hinge. Take it apart and find out.
Release the tension on that hinge with the “disengagement tool” (it’s a washer, a short spacer (a 1.5″ tube that fits over the bolt), and a nut. I think an M10 1.5) there is a threaded end on the bottom end of the rod at the bottom of the hinge. If you misplaced it, Google it I found the info on the internet when I needed it.
unbolt the rings, top and bottom, set the lid in the right spot and bolt everything back together.
Don’t give up! it’ll take less time than waiting on parts, IF they are in stock.
I might be naive but could you use the lifetime warranty? I always planned on getting a new one when mine ran out of life
It should be against the law to touch someone’s grill. Hopefully, you get it fixed

Better look at the chip.

Interior of the ceramic where the chip is.
It is so Kamadover 😔
Mine came cracked. They sent me a new lower bowl. It’s available to purchase as well.
Looks fixable to me. The top chip can be filled in with some high heat mortar. Like someone else said, you should take the rings off and straighten them out and put them back on if you can’t get a new part or a new warranty bottom. I fixed kamdo that had a hole in it. I made the hole trying to replace the thermometer and made a 2 inch diameter hole. I thought it was over, and then I used the fireplace mortar. I still have that Kamado and used it tonight. I have a new KJ Jr. Also but I didn’t want to give up my little mini 10″ kamado. Good luck!
The contractor should replace it wtf stand up for yourself.
