Had a sleep paralysis, heat stroke and elevated blood pressure today. So why not topple all of this with expired food? 🙂

wondering the same thing with a pack from 2023

  2. Dried noodles are pretty safe , the packaged sauces maybe less so.

I did this a couple times with some of the cheapest Aldi brand instant noodles, the way I would describe the taste is – musty ?
They are edible and won’t make you sick, but they just taste a combo of blander but also wrong that isn’t worth the cost to replace them
    Wouldn’t reccomend

All goods are printed with a date, but not all dates are ‘expiry’ dates. For dry goods like noodles, tinned goods and most preserved items, its either a display date or a ‘best before end’ date, or BBE (depending on your country i suppose). A display date is for store reference only, and a BBE is a quality assurance thing. Youre unhappy with an item past that date? Well theyve no liability because they warned you. Often on long life goods, BBE dates are drastically exaggerated, because most folks will throw them out and buy new.

Add 10 years to dry goods that remain uncompromised (ie, no damage to packet) and they will still be fine.

  5. Very quick update:
I ate them. T’was fine, not much worse than unexpired noodles. The spices were stale af but otherwise? Decent 7/10, the broth maybe 6.5/10

Its not expiration date, for sure it sais: best before:
    Its not the same.

  7. Dry things last indefinitely unless moisture gets in and mold grows. You won’t get poisoned, but it will taste bad…

Are you sure it’s an expiration date and not a best by date , because they aren’t the same thing.. as long as they didn’t smell off /look moldy you are ok ..

I’d be more worried about the seasoning packet tasting a little off or weak but other than that, if I were starving, I think I’d eat that. lol

They are practically shelf stable noodle. However, get rid of the soup pack and just use some soup stock like beef, chicken, seafood instead. I prefer better than bouillon brand. For seafood, the knorr brand is my go to.

  11. The noodles are fried and the oil on it goes rancid after a while, thus the musty smell and taste others have mentioned.
Have I eaten it before? Yes. Did I die? No. But it wasn’t good as not expired ramen. And 4 years is pretty long..
You can boil the noodles separately so that some of the oil gets rinsed off if you’re really wanting to eat it.

There oil in it. It might turn rancid, giving a chemically oily musty taste

  13. So you read the package, cook them, pick some up with a fork, take a pic, then ask Reddit if they’re okay?

  14. Elevated blood pressure…..the sodium content alone is an issue.

What’s the point in worrying about the expiration date.

  15. Preemptively_Extinct

Elevated blood pressure followed with salty noodles? Nope.

I would eat 20 year old instant ramen if it was stored okay and smelled normal

  17. I thought noodles had a best before date, not an expiry date

you’ve gone that far I don’t think you need to ask whether or not you should eat it anymore.

Looks like you already made your decision fam
