Finally pulled the trigger on my first ever pellet grill. Looking for tips and advice.
After many months of watching this forum I finally decided to buy a searwood 600xl.
I've never used anything other than a propane grill so I'm looking for some tips and advice and basics of using a pellet grill.
Can't wait!

Make sure you do the burn in correctly. I did the burn in the sprayed the grates with high heat cooking spray on my first cook for safe measure. Honestly look at people’s recipes here for ideas on what to cook and how to do so. I would say try out a few smaller bags of pellets until you know what blend of flavor you’re going for.
I have a searwood Xl as well, it took about an hour and only needed a helping hand a few times. Enjoy the process and welcome!

Searwood is a good machine, you won’t miss propane. I got rid of my Weber propane and haven’t thought about it for a second.
You’re coming into the pellet grill world at a good time. Machine designs have matured to the point where they are generally reliable.

Couple things. 1) The app is surprisingly very handy and easy to use. Great to monitor long cooks and track progress using the thermometer.
2) I recommend Bear Mountain Pellets. Bold BBQ blend is my favorite.
3) The aluminum disposable drip pan liner can by bought off amazon for much cheaper than the official Weber ones.

Enjoy! I love mine, but expect to give yourself a bit of time to adjust from cooking on propane to the pellet grill. I came from 20+ years of kettle usage; it has taken a bit to set a temperature when grilling.
