I had my first experience with In-N-Out! I was very excited. Fantastic experience. The burger was the star. The salad was very fresh. Great sauce. The bun was perfection – toasted so the edges were crispy but the bread remained pillowy soft. The plain fries were meh. The animal-style fries with chopped chilis were very good. The fries were a topping delivery system. My chocolate milkshake was basically a McDonald’s chocolate shake – not great, not bad.
The burger on its own, 9.3 / 10.
I would place the burger alone right on par with the burgers from Five Guys. Five Guys’ patties are slightly better than In-N-Out’s, but In-N-Out’s crazy fresh veggies and bun perfection really changed the way I enjoyed a fast food burger. Culver’s and NE Ohio staple Swenson’s are still the best in the game to me.

That looks so good, i’ve never had a in’n out burgers before, i’ll hope someday try one of those burgers
Looks yummy
We need these in NY!!!
Ya never order plane fries gotta be animal style
This burger looks good especially for a fast food’s standards
I went to CA last year and I was excited to try In-N-Out. I got my burger, and it was the saltiest burger I’ve ever eaten. The fries too. Are they normally super salty or was mine made by a lunatic?
Every day this same shit gets posted. So overrated.
Glad you enjoyed it OP. Prepare yourself for the deluge of people responding to this post to tell you how “mid” or “overrated” In N Out is. The haters love to brigade these posts.
Grew up in Cleveland also. Swenson is dope. I hope to try in n out one day. When in nw Ohio, Kewpie in Lima serves a great burger also. There is always a long line
Never had it, are those onions kept in water or whats the deal? Raw onion like that looks overpowering of just straight up fresh 🙂
I lived in California for 20 years and ate at In-n-Out probably 4-5x per year. Double Double Animal Style is probably my favorite burger ever. And to be clear, I otherwise despise fast food.
Their fries are terrible. Don’t waste your time.
I’m on the east coast now and miss it so much.
Tried it for my first time a couple years ago. Was kinda mid. Tasted like a regular ol whopper tbh. That’s just me though. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t all the hype
Get a whole fried onion (slices like yours, not an actual onion) and pair it with Animal style. This is the way.
Looks great, and it’s one of the few fast joints I can eat at where I don’t walk away feeling gross.
And get the Neapolitan shake next time 🙌🏼
As solid and on the nose as a fast food burger gets(though hardly worth all the over the top fawning) and the most absolute trash french fries in history.
And it wasn’t the most mediocre burger you’ve ever had in your life? You weren’t wildly disappointed by all the insane hype you’ve heard?
Mid Burger is what they should call Inand out
Chopped chillis you’re a pro
I used to work at In-N-Out, and I love their burgers. You can’t actually cook one until you’re a level 6, and to get to level 6, you generally have to have been working their for a while. That means you’re always getting a burger from someone who is experienced at making them. If you get a bad one, it’s because the person preparing the buns is being overwhelmed by the cook and can’t keep up.
But yeah, the patties are never frozen. They get delivered every morning from a warehouse that is within at least 500 miles from any store (that is a rule, which is why expansion is tricky) and the same with the produce. The fries are actually from the same supplier as Lays, and I actually love them. You have to look at them as potatoes and not a ff French fry. Salt em up and dip them in the spread that comes on the burger. And if you like them we’ll done, don’t just say well done, ask for double cooked.
In In Out is the most over rated fast food burger ever.
