The Republic of Moldova will host the 46th World Congress of Vine and Wine in its capital, Chișinău, from June 16 to 20, 2025. The official announcement was made by Her Excellency Corina Călugăru, Ambassador of Moldova in France, during a launch event on February 4 in Paris. Held at the Maison de l’Alsace, the event gathered representatives of the international community, embassies, and foreign media to celebrate Moldova’s role as the host of this significant gathering for the global wine industry.

Joining the ambassador at the event were Andrian Digolean, State Secretary of the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and Ștefan Lamandi, Director of the National Office of Vine and Wine of Moldova. They emphasized the country’s commitment to organizing a successful congress while highlighting Moldova’s rich winemaking heritage and ongoing innovations in the sector.

The OIV World Congress of Vine and Wine is a key event for the global vitivinicultural sector, bringing together researchers, industry professionals, and state delegates from around the world. It serves as a platform for sharing the latest scientific advancements and also includes the General Assembly of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV).

The 2025 congress will be held under the theme “Charting the Future of Vine and Wine: Embracing Resilience, Elevating Value, Fostering Innovation.” In his address, OIV Director General John Barker underlined the importance of resilience, value, and innovation as guiding principles for the future of the vine and wine industry.

With a dynamic wine sector that balances tradition and innovation, Moldova is well-positioned to host this global event. The country’s growing reputation in the wine industry and its commitment to sustainability and quality make it a fitting setting for discussions on the future of viticulture and enology.
