A leisurely five-course wine lunch in Santa Rosa, plus a fabulous themed Pride dinner — complete with drag queens and disco — are coming up in June.
SANTA ROSA
Italians know how to ‘pranzo’
A long, leisurely lunch is an Italian Sunday tradition, and without stepping foot in an airport, you can take part in one at D’Argenzio Winery’s urban tasting room from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 2. Join winemaker Sandro Tambruin for the five-course wine-paired feast that will start with antipasti followed by pranzo, the Italian word for lunch. Courses include a salad then a pasta course of baked ziti paired with sangiovese. Next is the diner’s choice of rack of lamb, lobster tail or eggplant parmigiana with each entree paired with a carefully selected wine. For dessert, if you still have room, enjoy nonna zeppole (Italian doughnuts) and lemon squares paired with montepulciano. $100 tickets can be purchased at bit.ly/3QQCFkD 1301 Cleveland Ave.
SONOMA
‘Birdcage’ sets the stage for Pride dinner
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 30 years since Robin Williams and Nathan Lane blew up the silver screen in “The Birdcage”. Now, the comedy set in a gay cabaret in Miami’s South Beach is the inspiration for a fabulous themed dinner — complete with drag queens and disco — to celebrate Pride Month from 5:30-9 p.m., June 8 at the Sonoma Community Center. Chef Kyle Kuklewski has planned a four-course, Birdcage-inspired menu that includes a Guatemalan sweet and sour soup, mojo braised chicken thighs and a dessert called “When the Schnecken Beckons” that’s not to be missed. After dinner, disco the night away as you “Madonna, Madonna, Madonna” till your heart’s content (seriously, watch the movie) in your finest South Beach attire. Tickets are $150 per person and available at bit.ly/44LZ6gw 276 E. Napa St.
