It’s like eating rubber bands, not worth it.

Agree to disagree. They definitely have their place in certain meals. And in certain preparation.

Try picking up a bag of bean sprouts and using them as the noodles in stir fry, that’s my favorite method now.

I’ve never tried them simply because I know so many people hate them 😂 life is short im eating pasta

  5. EagleDesigner898

Just get a veggie slicer that makes noodles and mix some spiralized carrots or zucchini in with edamame or black bean pasta. No guilt

  6. otakuchantrash

Carbe diem pasta is pretty good and lower calorie and it tastes like normal pasta. It’s more expensive though.

I agree. I prefer to boost the nutrition of the pasta I do eat and augment the portion size with vegtables. As an example, with spaghetti, I do a half portion of whole wheat pasta and add zucchini noodles to bulk up the meal. Just toss in the raw zoodles as you sauce the cooked pasta. The heat of the sauce and the pasta warms the zucchini to a satisfying al dente.

i remember first seeing them about 6 months ago and getting excited, everyone was making videos with them or posts on here, finally tried it and they actually made me depressed, i picked out the meat and stuff i had and threw the noodles in the trash and made a omelet instead

  9. I thought they were SO BAD as a noodle replacement. Maybe if that’s what you’re looking for from the beginning they’re fine but as a nood hellllll nooooo

Use the Japanese brand. Use it in Asian dishes. Especially good for instant noodles (replace the noodles from the pack with the konjac noodles).

Also great for Vietnamese spring rolls.

As someone who grew up eating konnyaku (konjac) I will never understand the appeal of shiritaki noodles. My husband loves konnyaku though so maybe it’s a texture thing for me.

they’re terrible i gagged when i ate them 😭mine tasted like dish water for some reason. i prefer spaghetti squash

Hmm I like them lol I wash them really well, and use them w something like basil pesto and a protein, or an Asian sauce plus protein. They really do need a sauce. After you wash them n make your protein add them to the proteins pan, veggies, sauce. Cook them in the sauce for awhile. They absorb the flavor then. But idk I like off and odd textures and I’m OK with replacements I guess lol and I haven’t had a wheat noodle in like 10 years 😅

  14. hotheadnchickn

oh i can’t eat them. i just don’t eat any kind of pasta/noodle bc those are too heinous.

  15. shagawaga

i like them in asian soups! dry/stirfried, hell no lol but as pho noodle substitutes, instant ramen subs, in a tom yum hell ya they have a similar texture to enoki mushrooms i feel

  16. My partner and I make them in tomato sauce with prawns and mix them with zucchini pasta. A little splash of cream in the sauce. I really don’t mind it, it’s just a carrier for the flavour and it mixes well with the flavour of the prawns. The zucchini pasta gives a bit of texture too.

  17. matcha-overdose

It’s not suppose to taste like anything. It’s meant to be in dishes where there’s sauce/soup/broth to give the noodle flavour.

  18. skullcrushingthighs

They’re awful. I am curious about the tofu version though.

  19. Its not the taste it’s they gave me the absolute worst cramps ive ever had

  20. Jellycato

Try tofu skin (called thousand layer) it comes in sheets that can be sliced into noodles of whatever thickness, nice chew, high protein, high satiety

  21. blueberry_ativan

Tip for people who aren’t a fan of shiritaki noodles on their own: use real noodles too but half your portion of them and then use an equal amount of shiritaki noodles. its a great way to still have that noodle taste but decrease the calories and fill out the dish/increase volume.

  22. malbork0822

I like it, but treat it more like rice vermicelli than ramen or pasta.

  23. I don’t dislike the taste, but I tend to get really bad stomach cramps from them when I eat them too often.

  24. MarcusofMenace

I’m currently using them as they’re my method to get to my goal weight. They’re a means to an end and only a temporary subsidy

  25. ChrisKetcham1987

The funny thing is, these noodles aren’t originally for weight loss. There are amazing hotpot / sukiyaki recipes that are built around these specific noodles. If you use them with the right recipes, they are delicious. They are two dollars at my local Asian market. I use them to make Japchae and Jjajangmyeon.

  26. Competitive_Peak2403

i have been looking for the name of these noodles FOREVER. i love them in Gyudon

  27. Front_Cantaloupe8479

I know noodles tend to be a fear food for some but I’ve found they really keep me on track. Especially with a food scale. Protien fortified pasta has been a lifesaver.

50-70g of pasta tends to be no more than 200-260 calories mix it with a lighter pasta sauce of choice (I like mushroom its 120ml for 70 calories) and add in a meat. (I use veggie crumbles because I’m a vegetarian) But all in all its a very filling meal that satisfies me for 5-6 hours and is under 500.

It may sound like a lot of calories but its well worth it.
