Pranzo is expected to open in mid-July at 15-17 Church Street, where YO! Sushi used to be, though an opening date has not yet been set for the 80-plus cover restaurant.
Pranzo first opened in Harrogate in 2018 and now has sister restaurants in Ilkley and Horsforth, making York the fourth in the family.
Pranzo is noted for homemade pasta and those who sign up on the Pranzo website could get the chance to enjoy their seafood bigoli, beef shin ragu with mafalde or the nduja paccheri, a dish unique to Pranzo that uses ingredients sourced from southern Italy.

Owner Marco Greco said: “York’s a beautiful city. Opening a restaurant here has been a long-term goal. The people of York have been so welcoming since our arrival, we are looking forward to becoming part of the community.”
Pranzo has earned high rankings across platforms like Tripadvisor, and Google with all restaurants seeing five-star reviews.
The new restaurant will be open seven days a week from 12 pm until late.
