Clean enough for a Rutland? And do I have to remove the top gasket? I’m assuming I do.

Looks clean enough to me. I’d wipe it down with a wet rag and let it dry just to make sure there’s no dust on there. Strictly speaking, you don’t NEED to remove the top gasket, you can see how it runs and remove it if you run into any issues. It can help to leave it if you had a bit of a gap before installing the rutland.

I don’t have a Rutland gasket but that rim looks clean enough for anything, just make sure there is no loose debris on it. From what I’ve read, it’s totally up to you what you want to do on the dome – personally I’d leave the top gasket there if it’s in good shape.

The next time I install one, it will be on the dome side to avoid hitting it with utensils, food drippings, etc.

Wipe down with mineral spirits and you’re good to go.

Should be fine. Make sure you use Permatex Copper Sealant for best results, and make sure you are wearing crappy clothes when installing, as it will stain clothes if you get it on you.

I wore crappy clothes to get this gasket off!
I’d wipe it down with acetone
