LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) – The West Ohio Food Bank made sure that people had a good meal to enjoy over Christmas.

This is the 4th year that the food bank handed out ham dinners on Christmas Eve. Employees, volunteers, and Santa and Mrs. Claus were all on hand giving out around 2,000 meals. Besides the ham dinners, they also gave out eggs, bread, potatoes, and some sweets to the people that came through. The dinner giveaway started in 2024, after an organization stopped doing their Christmas meal during the pandemic. Thanks to many volunteers, the West Ohio Food Bank has been able to fill the need and continue their mission of making sure people do not go hungry.

“We’ve not only done it through a distribution, but we have also done a lot of home deliveries and to senior apartment complexes. We could not do this without the volunteers, and we have been very blessed today; we have had an abundance of volunteers that are helping us. Not only here, but doing those deliveries, so we are very thankful for them,” says Tommie Harner, CEO, West Ohio Food Bank.

The West Ohio Food Bank will be closed the rest of this year and will reopen next Thursday, January 2nd.
