So this is my first starter ever. I used Bob’s Redmill Organic Unbleached All Purposed Flour and Purified water. Started her 6/24. First 2 days saw lots of bubbling and rising then it stopped Day 3-4 and has been mostly flat. I’m still feeding her but should I be worried?! Do I have to start again? Or is this normal and keep her going?

You’re getting this started from scratch? It took me a few weeks… possibly months to get mine to a good spot. IIRC, don’t feed too often at the beginning. Give it a chance to do its thing. Sometimes it was several days before it was ready for a feeding. Also slightly elevated temperatures speed things up. Don’t go more than 30*C.
Normal. Keep going. May take anywhere from 14-30 days for it to be ready.
Starters always “die” after 3-5 days of activity. That’s how the battle of the yeast and bacteria always goes. It will come back to life soon.
Mine is named Jane Dough!
Should take 3-6 days.
definitely normal! also the lashes 😭 stay strong doughchii
My starter I started about 3 weeks ago became super quiet after day 5ish, with little to no rising for the last 2 weeks (it still would become looser, and have a fermented/alcohol scent after 24ish hours). It was fed 1:1:1 the first week, then I switched to 1:2:2.
I read online that mixing rye flour with it can help it along so I tried with a 1:2:1.4:0.6 (10:20:14:6g starter:water:flour:rye) ratio and it started doubling after the second day of it! Hoping it’s not a second false rise.
A+ starter name
