Food saver model VS2280
Now I have had vac sealers in the past but this one has weak suction and will seal everything with major air left in the bag… IMO a bad model from Foodsaver.
Makes me want to avoid foodsaver altogether and go with something better.
Anyone know any vac sealers that actually work well for sous vide? I am aware foodsaver works for some people as well as other brands.
I am looking for currently existing models for sale now, I am aware that the older vacuum sealers are better than these newer models but I don't want to buy a used one at this point.
And also this is a cautionary post to stay away from this model because the functionality is poor. Was a total waste of time for me.

Are the bags fitting into it properly? Can you vacuum manually with it before hitting the seal button?
Doesn’t sound right – either faulty or not being used correctly.
Reach out to food saver customer service to see what you’re doing wrong
I have had my current FoodSaver for about a decade or more. Use it once or twice a week and to this day it’s still works great. You might have gotten a defective one but you bought it at Costco just bring it back. They will not question anything. Take it from there get another one if you still don’t like it get a different brand.
My older FoodSaver is stronger than I’ve ever needed it to be. Are you using their brand of bags?
Thats the one I have and it is by no means weak. Something’s wrong
Use the pulse mode and seal when you’re happy. Seems to work fine for me, replaced my old vac sealer with this a few weeks ago. I push down on it for a better seal but no issue with the vac part.
We have the same one and it definitely sucks. Either it’s broken or you’re doing something wrong.
You either got a faulty machine, or its operator error
Some bags will only seal in 1 direction
Gate my new food saver over the last one. (V4400). My older model had the bag cutter in place so you can seal as you cut. The new one has the cutter in a completely different compartment. It wastes more bag space to seal, and the general size of it is ridiculously larger. Foodsaver is definitely going backwards in design.
If you stored it in Store mode, that would preserve the seals better.
