HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – It’s a celebration of fine food, fast cars and everything that makes Italy special – most importantly, it’s culture and people. Festa Italiana is the premiere event bringing the pockets of Italy that are scattered across Islands to one central location and event.
“This is really the intersection between Hawaii and Italy, providing a variety of authentic Italian and Italian-inspired experiences and flavors offered by Hawaii and Italian businesses and restaurants that will transport you from the heart of the Pacific to the boot of Italy,” said Joe DiCondina, one of the many people responsible for bringing the festival to the people of Hawaii.
There are two separate (but equally awesome) parts of the event. The first happens on Friday and is a ticketed, VIP experience for those 21 and older.
“Festa Italiana kicks off at Velocity on Friday, March 21, with the Passaporto Italiano VIP Experience. Nine chefs preparing savory and sweet dishes, unlimited wine, beer and cocktails plus live entertainment,” added Zach Diionno, another event organizer.
On Saturday, Mar. 22, is the free Italian street festival in Kakaako at Mother Waldron Park from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
“That event is free and open to the public, for all ages – bring your families down. We will have some 20 food vendors serving Italian dishes – pasta, pizza, porchetta sandwiches, cannoli, tiramisu, sausage & peppers,” added Diionno.
