This was my first cookie making attempt.
I tried a wet on wet technique for the border design and the flowers but I found that the icing was drying really quickly, I couldn't really take the time I wanted with the design.
Is there any way of making the icing crust over slightly slower? Is it just making the flood consistency icing less stiff to give you more time?

Sometimes a looser consistency is the answer, though it comes with its own limitations- overly quick spread, potential for uneven or thin looking result. Play with your merengue to powdered sugar ratio, corn syrup, etc. and see how it affects you. I live in a high desert arid climate, so I only get a few seconds of play in the icing, making it super challenging. Good luck!
