It is the creamiest, least watery squash I've ever had. The leaf/vine/bushing habit of this plant allows a lot of airflow underneath where the squash are growing. I currently have squash bugs on all variety of summer squash I'm growing, except all 5 plants of this variety, I assume because they have less cover to hide. It produces slightly less than the others in quantity, but ends up harvesting more because each fruit has the space to fully develop. My other patty pans and desi are almost impossible to harvest without damaging because of how densely they grow. Lastly, they are GORGEOUS. Almost too pretty to sink a knife into. Needed to give this summer squash a shout out. 💛

Interesting and thanks for sharing! If you’re curious what the name means in German, it’s “Yellow English”.
Looks yummy! honeslty I have also moved away from standard zucchini. There are so many better options for summer squash if you are going to put the time and effort into growing your own. I like a patty pan style, again for similar reasons they are less watery than others. This looks like it might be closely related to petty pan if i am honest.
Thank you I will look into this for next year though as I have used up the last of my current seed.
ETA, looked them up, they are patty pan type lol. They are now on my wishlist if I can get seed.
What a cutie! I’ve never heard of these before. I just looked them up and some pics look like a regular pattypan shape, and others have more of a cupped shape like yours. Does your vine have a mix of shapes?
Low key, Im afraid of growing shaped squash because Im not sure how it gets sliced otherwise you have me sold!
Ahhhhh dass sir geil. Versuche ich nächstes Jahr 🥰
Wow. Thanks for the info! I will try next year!
Have you grown trombone? If yes, how’s taste comparison. Fyi trombone is vining with “zucchini” which taste like cross between Kabocha and zucchini. Not watery. More starchy and sweet.
Very cool. Do you have any better luck freezing them since they are less watery? And anything that squash bugs don’t like sounds good to me.
That a cool squash, I want to give it a try next year, I’m a massive summer squash enthusiast
Awww, so cute 😍. It’s going on my To-Grow List for next year 😍
Gorgeous! Looks like a party pan squash and a mushroom had a baby.
Do you live somewhere with heat and humidity? Any issues with leaf diseases?
Wow, I had never seen one of these before!
This is the kind of content I am here for.
Good looking squash, congratulations
What is thr flavor like?
Love that, they are gorgeous. If you save seeds it seems many in this thread would be interested for next year, myself included!
