Unless you’re new to muscle building you can’t really build muscle with that deficit.
But if it’s only 2 months you can cut a good amount of fat and only marginal muscle.
I’d say 8 weeks is not mental, but be careful. Monitor yourself and as soon as you feel something is off go to 1500 kcal at lest.
On this subreddit we heavily encourage being healthy in your weight loss, the sidebar has more info. We look at TDEE and cut accordingly, not just 1200-1300 at any size.
1200 is for petite sedentary women, it’s simply not a good idea for 6 foot tall man. Can’t encourage doing this again.
What does your doctor say? An aggressive cut should be approved by your doctor as there can be all sorts of complications.
It’s recommended that men eat at least 1500 calories a day. You should also use a TDEE calculator to estimate your maintenance calories. You can subtract up to 500 calories from that and lose a pound a week, which is a healthy rate of loss and sustainable. You should also eat more than your BMR, which is probably higher than 1200.
Smart scales aren’t going to be very accurate for body composition/bf%.
