Started up the deck boss 590 to make al pastor. Within minutes, tons of white smoke came billowing out. Shut everything off, let it cool down a little. Took the grate and aluminum pan off, found a bunch of old pellets in the fire pot. Thankfully nothing lost, but just a good reminder to myself to clean that out every so often.

Something is wrong if your pot is full of unburned pellets. The auger was pushing them without the hot rod firing them off. Or the hot rod is bad or too slow to light them. Cleaning the pot to remove sunburned pellets is not a maintenance task, it’s a sign something is wrong. Maybe you told it to purge the auger and never fired it up and put it away full of pellets..?
