Any chance of salvaging this base? Or am I planting flowers in it?

Mine is doing the same thing. It’s about 12 years old and just gonna use it till she breaks and then see if the green egg warranty is worth a damn.

Just keep using it until it splits or leaks too much air.

If you can’t warranty it, then just send it.

I’ve salvaged a base like this, a “gifted” to me used BGE. I drilled holes through the base at the end of each crack. Then, I used Rutland firebrick mortar to fill the holes. Skimmed the cracks on the interior with the mortar, too. It’s worked out great. But, if your base is under warranty, do that. 🙂

If you have the warranty get a new one and run this until it’s done. My warrantied large base is now a planter for jalapeños. I used my crack base for a couple of years with the new base in my garage, only reason I swapped it out was due to putting new bands on.

Why not use it as a fire-pit? put it on some heat-proof stones, and you have a nice large fire pit

else you can use it as a flower pot. or side-table
