The whole reason I quit buying from them was that the chicken almost always leaked. Problems ranged from sealed bags that looked like they’d been slashed with a box cutter to the seal between bags not heaving much integrity. It’s like the sealer didn’t have enough heat.
Is this just me or has anyone else had such an egregious problem from a company that claims they “obsess over every detail ensuring we deliver products that meet our rigorous standards”?

I gave up on them years ago. Same problem. Packing was always damaged or leaking. Just like it was thrown in from 15ft away.

Butcherbox is trash. We got one order from them and immediately canceled. Some of the worst cuts of meat I’ve ever seen in my life. The chicken was stringy and literally fell apart once it was defrosted.
I received a couple packs of ribeyes from them that were actually rotten. They refunded me but the break down in the QC process that even allowed the product to be packaged and sent out was a dealbreaker
Some of the worst meat I’ve ever bought, and the packaging was absolutely dog shit. They made it to where I will never order meat online anywhere ever again.
I never liked their beef. It always tasted weird and fishy to me.
And yes, the amount of waste caused by packaging errors was astounding.
It’s been so long I forgot why I cancelled my subscription
Why anyone would order meat in the mail is beyond me
I really hate when companies use handscript font, to suggest to people that they are folksey, Mayberry Dwellers, and not filthy corporate Db’s.
And the printed signature? What a joke.
Go to the butcher, or grocer and pick your meats up yourself. It wont cost more than this service, as a person formerly grifted by Omaha Steaks I can certainly tell you that.
You can get to know the butchers and/or meat department workers, and this is always a good thing when buying marbled steaks, roasts, or anything really.
And I am a millennial, not a boomer…I just figured out how much money I was blowing each month on food delivery, when I could just go to the market myself and pay a third the cost for better quality.
I’ve used BB for three months so far and have had nothing but positive experiences either the quality of the meat. And the packaging. Zero chicken leaks at my house
Damn there’s a lot of hate for BB here. I did 4 (5?) boxes over the past year or two, almost exclusively beef, and every piece was solid if not great. I just didn’t like the averaged out lb cost so I leverage their offers to get 1 lower cost than cancelled. But I never had a single problem with the cuts and they usually exceeded or at worst, equaled, similarly priced local meat.
I get hand me down butcher block chicken for this exact reason, I always have to rebag it and the water weight is easily 10%, but the meat is good.. TBH if they fixed it I’d probably get my own sub
I hear ya – just some fake-personalzed corporate bullshit.
Pretty big fan of Wild Fork, myself, but I don’t need it for beef, unless it’s hanger steak, which is weirdly difficult to find near me. I use it primarily for duck and more exotic stuff like wild boar.
I just thaw it in a bowl and it doesn’t leak.
