What should I know from here on out? Couple questions:

  1. Other than the grease/ash pan being lined with foil does anyone protect any parts with foil for cooks?
  2. How often are you removing the grates and flavor-savor to vac and clean?
  3. My GMG was weak on smoke flavor, one of the reasons for this purchase. I’m imagining the Searwood is going to chew through pellets like crazy in comparison? 40 pound bag on the GMG would get me through many cooks.
  4. Any 3rd party upgrade/ add on that you would recommend?

Also purchased both fold down shelves and a cover.

Getting g started was a breeze in the app.

Thanks!

  1. Congrats on the purchase! This is the XL from the look. I have the regular 600 and couldn’t be happier with it. The griddle insert is a great addition and I’ve heard nothing but great things about the rotisserie attachment too. I go through about 5-40lb bags a summer and maybe 2-3 over the late fall and winter (Nova Scotia).

I haven’t protected mine with drip pans or anything like that. Swap out a new foil pan every now and then (get them cheap at the grocery store and cut them to size if needed). Scrape off the grill after and before each cook. Knock down the ash about every week or so.

Haven’t had any issues with mine. It’s been doing great for over a year now. Pellet use really depends on what you cook and how long those cooks are.

Get the front table/shelf. I literally regretted not buying it as soon as I put on my first cook at 6 am. Once Ace hardware opened up, I bought one and put it on mid cook while my wife was giving me looks of “your going to burn yourself you idiot”.

So far, I’ve done 4 (5? I dunno) Briskets, a set of Dino bones, a meatloaf, a couple sets of baby backs, some chicken and burgers. I’ve still not cleaned mine but that’s happening one evening this week before the 4th. Love mine. Does great on literally everything. Even did some Costco stuffed peppers on it and they turned out awesome.
