Ok I have replaced the bands and hinge to the new system. I also installed a Rutland gasket. It has a slight overbite. The wax paper between the dome and base is a little loose in the front. Hopefully that does not mean I have air coming in when I cook.
I tried adjusting all the bolts. My question is this. I thought the two horizontal bolts were supposed to bend but I think the bands are bending. Does this look right?

Bands look good. Basically tighten until it feels like too much then tighten it a little more. The ends of the bands will tweak a little. Mine has been like that for over 10 years.
Bolts look fine but if you’ve got gap you should loosen, seat the top more evenly and retighten.
All good. BGE endorses this. Although they recommend their double felt gasket.
Tighten those carriage bolts until they’re significantly bent.
