Typically, the weekend before July 4th is a lively one for food events in and around NYC. Just in Queens, on Sunday, there's an Indonesian bazaar in Astoria (pictured), a Filipino streetside event in Woodside, an Andean sun festival in Corona, and the finales of two multiday festivals, one Italian, in Astoria, and one Greek, in Jamaica. All these are free.

So are the usual suspects this weekend, including the Queens Night Market, the Bronx Night Market, the various locations of Smorgasburg, and JapanFes. Read my full roundup — which includes other freebies, a few events requiring nominal admission fees, and one pricier ticketed event — here: https://www.eatingintranslation.com/2025/06/new-york-area-food-events-late-june.html

As for myself, on Saturday I plan to check out a Sri Lankan sun festival on Staten Island, and dance between the raindrops if need be.
