HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. — In honor of its 200th anniversary, the Village of Hoosick Falls is inviting residents past and present to contribute their favorite recipes for a special Fundraiser Community Cookbook, celebrating the history, traditions, and tastes of the town.
The cookbook will feature family recipes and crowd-pleasing favorites — the dishes that have brought the community together for generations at potlucks, church suppers, and neighborhood gatherings.
“We want this cookbook to tell the story of Hoosick Falls through its food,” said Joyce Brewer, 200th committee member. “Everyone has that one dish they’re known for — something that reminds them of home, of family, of special moments. That’s what we’re hoping to capture.”
Community members are invited to submit up to three recipes, along with an optional short story or memory about their dish.
Recipe collection forms can be found at numerous places around Hoosick Falls: Louis Miller Museum, Hoosick Falls Armory, Village office, Immaculate Conception, Hoosick Falls First Baptist Church, Community Alliance, Cheney Library, St. Stanislaw, Eagles Club, and at www.hoosickhistory.com.
Deadline for submissions is Sept. 30. The cookbook will be published and sold later this year, with proceeds supporting the 200th celebration events.
