Last October, fans of Mediterranean cuisine in Maryland had reason to rejoice when we let you know that AYSE Meze Lounge was planning to reopen approximately five years after closing its beloved Frederick location in 2020. The popular restaurant is making a highly anticipated comeback, this time in Rockville’s King Farm neighborhood, and it’s aiming to open this summer.

Coming soon signage and an AYSE awning are now up and the restaurant is hiring as it prepares to offer its elevated dining experience in the coming months. Under the continued guidance of owner Nezih Pistar, AYSE aims to bring back the timeless flavors that made it a Frederick staple, blending authentic recipes with contemporary techniques.

The new Rockville location at 700 King Farm Blvd #170 will take over the space previously occupied by Nick’s Chophouse, promising an intimate and luxurious setting for patrons. Diners can expect a menu celebrating the rich traditions of the Mediterranean, from vibrant mezes and expertly grilled seafood and meats to signature dishes like manti and fresh, wood-fired branzino. A sample menu can be seen here.

AYSE is part of the KIOS Restaurant Group, which also operates Pistarro’s Ristorante and Isabella’s Taverna and Tapas Bar in Frederick. The move to Rockville marks a significant expansion for Pistar and a welcome addition to Montgomery County’s diverse culinary scene. Stay tuned for more details and a more precise opening date.
