A new business is set to take over a historic Wavertree pub building. Myra Mediterranean Restaurant will move into the former Love Bar unit inside the former Woodcroft pub on the corner of Smithdown Road and Bagot Street.
Metal railings have been placed around the building while renovations get underway inside. A large banner has been placed on the right of the building telling customers Myra Mediterranean Restaurant is “coming soon”.
The building has been empty since its previous occupant left the premises more than a year ago. The front door is currently broken, with surrounding brickwork falling apart in various locations around the entrance.
The exterior has changed colour a number of times over the past few years after being painted yellow, pink, white, blue, then green. The building has also seen numerous businesses occupy the premises recently.

In August 2022, the venue was opened as Love Bar by the owners of the nearby Late Night convenience store.
A business named Roma Bar also used the building for a short stint before Love Bar. Before then, the building was occupied by Landmark Indian Restaurant and Shisha Bar, which is believed to have closed in early 2017.

Most will remember the building as the Woodcroft Hotel, rebuilt as a pub under the same name in the 1920s. The two-sided, split level venue came with a spacious beer garden and was used as a public house by the local community.
The pub was known for its eye-catching colour schemes, having been painted both pink and a distinctive shade of blue.
Woodcroft endured several fires and closures before shutting permanently more than a decade ago.
