The Valley of the Moon Pétanque Club invites the public to join a festive celebration of Bastille Day on Sunday, July 13 at the courts in Sonoma’s Depot Park, 270 1st St. West.
This day will feature a mêlée pétanque tournament and a French chef-prepared lunch by Marco Llaria.
The event kicks off with a friendly mêlée tournament, where players are matched with new partners in each game — perfect for all levels of experience. Whether you’re a seasoned boulist or just pétanque-curious, everyone is welcome to come play or just watch, but certainly come for lunch.
After the morning matches, guests will be treated to a multicourse lunch. The menu includes: chilled asparagus leek vichyssoise (appetizer); crab cakes with Cajun roulade; grilled andouille sausages with pepperade; coleslaw with jicama and apples; soft-ripened cheeses and sourdough rolls; and lemon-strawberry shortcake with fresh cream for dessert. Beverages are included.
The cost is $25 per person. Lunch reservation deadline is Monday, July 7.
To play, simply show up at the courts at around 9 a.m. on July 13. The cost to play is $15 per person.
