Looking to add a weber or egg style cooker to my arsenal. My pellet smoker is great but Id like more of a smoke flavor. The tubes dont seem to help it too much. Does this look like a decent deal or just get a brand new with a stand?

Unpopular opinion here… I think it’s too high. I see eggs all the time for around $300 with accessories.
The tables are kind of unique but so many people build them near me they can be found for any price point.

I personally think about $750 would be a good price on that set up.

However eggs in my area may just go for less on the used market. In your area they may never hit my areas pricing.

You can get a BGE for $400 in good shape and set a table you have in your attic next to it. It’s nice and cosmetic but think about what you’re paying for.

    I just saved you $600

Bring a buddy to get it in the truck when ya find the one.

  3. I agree that $750 is a good deal for that combination.

Thats too much. Even with the table. I dunno how many times it was used, but that gasket looks shot. 10 times?

I personally wouldn’t do it seeing that the egg is sitting on a solid surface and not a table nest. Really need to have that air flow underneath so that it doesn’t crank. I’ve personally seen the cracked eggs and have successfully assisted customers who have used this method and not a table nest. I’ve also had BGE deny claims because a table nest wasn’t used, and there was no air flow.

    That is a horrible deal.

as all it looks to include is the default heat deflector.

They are asking near new prices, for something you don’t know the condition off.

Seems high to me but….those JJ George tables aren’t cheap but they are awesome tables.

Thanks all – I figured as much… although in my area I haven’t seen anything but medium/smalls listed in the $500 range without a table

  9. I paid $1000 CAD for an XL in a table and all the accessories. 1000 for a large in a table seems to high to me.

  10. No one has mentioned the most important part here… BGE lifetime warranty applies only to the original purchaser and you will end up needing to replace ceramics at some point. I’ve had about $3,000 worth of ceramics replaced over the last 20 years and it didn’t cost me a dime (unless you count gas money to get to the dealer).

Get a new one, it’ll be the last cooker you ever buy

Others have answered the question about the price thoroughly, so I’ll just throw in that if you’re really looking for smoke flavor, consider a stick burner. The Egg will give you more smoke than a pellet smoker, but not as much as a stick burner. The Egg beats the stick burner by a mile for versatility, but if all you’re going to do is low and slow smoking, you’ll get the best flavor from a stick burner.

I paid $400 for a large egg with table about years back. Although that price was pretty low. Agreed with the rest that 1k is too high.

Those tables retail $700 and are super nice, I have one for my XL I got off fb.

$1k is a little high, but not outrageous. If it’s been well taken care of, I’d pay asking. Ask to go see it, and ask why they’re selling. If it’s a move, they just want it gone and you can easily haggle. If the seller isn’t moving and doesn’t have a heat deflector, definitely $800-850
