There you go. Straightforward shiuama spice mix. Very, very easy, very fragrant uh spice mix to be used on your meats. There you go. Hi everyone. Welcome to Backyard Chef. I’m Rick. Today, shama spice mix. We all love a shawama, whether it be chicken or lamb or whatever. Okay. And you know the spice combination is of choice really. But you know I’ve got all the spices laid out here. Okay. Now the only um ingredient that I would say is optional is sumac. Now, sumac has been introduced into a shuama spice mix just to give that sour element and it saves you using limes or lemons or anything like that. It’s already in. So, in the ingredients there will be a full list. Sumac will be listed as optional. Okay. How do you make it? You take all your spices. You take a bowl and you dump the whole lot in there. Now, I’m not spinning this out doing every individual spice. They’re all in there. Give them a mix. Nice and straightforward. Wow, what a fantastic smell. There you go. Shove it in a bag, put a silicone gel sache in there, and that will keep. There you go. That’s shelf stable. That is shuama spice mix. Easy. There you go. Straightforward shiuama spice mix. Very very easy, very fragrant uh spice mix to be used on your meats. There you go. [Music]

  1. I predict a chicken shawarma in the near future and I can't wait😊. Thank you so much for sharing Rick πŸ™‚πŸ‘

  2. Love shawarma! Hey Rik, wondering if you may know how those 1980s canteen Currys were made? They were very mild and had a few sultanas in? Nothing special and likely British curry but I kinda miss em. I call it a canteen Curry.

  3. Is there a spice that would substitute for cumin? I'm allergic to it. Leaving it out is always an option, but I keep looking.

  4. Okay Rik, I’m excited … now could you show us how to use it!! I’d prefer beef, but whatever you think for a beginner! Thanks Buddy!!

  5. Checked your ingredients list, and I've got all of that, so I will give this a go. Off to your 2nd upload. Cheers Rik.

  6. I Loooove SUMAC!! It resembles dried pomegranate in Indian food … but Sumac is not bitter. I just had pizza with sumac on it πŸ™ƒ … anytime I need that sour flavour, I grab sumac πŸ˜‚.

Love these spices combo, my go to spices for a lot of dishes too!

  9. Fabulous recipe as always Rik. Many thanks. One question: When you refer to onion and garlic powder, do you mean onion and garlic salt? I can't find onion or garlic "powder" in any supermarket. Thanks again.
