The star of my tinned dinner tonight was Jose Gourmet sardines in Azores butter. The usual firm but not dry pilchards I expect from JG, this time saturated in rich butter. I gave the can a hot bath before opening to melt that delicious butter. They were wonderful on their own with just a light splash of vinegar or on crackers with pickled onions. I'm having the second half of the can for breakfast tomorrow with toast so that I can sop up all that butter.
