So I’ve been in a deficit on and off for over a year (F, 5’3”, 143lb) and am down a little over 20lbs! I’ve been trying to lose weight but also improve my relationship with food, learn how to trust myself to eat better, and listen to my body’s hunger cues. Well this 4th of July, I just had fun. I ate and drank what I wanted and just enjoyed the day without worrying about calories. This morning I did a food reflection to see why my stomach was upset and to just get an idea of how much fun I had… and wow. My first thought was “oh no I’ve ruined all of my progress” but instead I will think “I had a lot of fun yesterday, but today is a new day and I’m back to making healthier choices. Everything will be fine.”
Really I’m just sharing this so that if anyone else did something similar, you know you’re not alone and you didn’t ruin everything. Just got to get back to it to make our bodies feel their best! Life is about balance if possible. 💕

Hey, me too! I went over by about 1700 calories. I had plans to stick to my deficit, but then decided what the hell, it’s the one day a year that I throw a party at my house. Hosting is hard work!
