Some friends were visiting, one of which is from Europe and had never had a taco before, so we organized a taco crawl around the city. Locations were Home state (highland park location), Mariscos Jalisco, Tacos y Birria La Unica (both Boyle heights locations), Sonoratown, and Villa's Tacos (DTLA). The goal was to get a big variety of types of tacos, so we felt the list did that w breakfast, seafood, Birria, Sonoran, and blue corn tortillas respectively. I know some folks might hate on homestate as a not local chain – other breakfast rec options are welcome!
Results are on the second picture, a bit messy but you can see Villa's was by far the favorite, followed by Mariscos barely beating out Unica. Homestate was last place but got good points on the vibe for that location.
Would definitely want to do one again, would love to hear other people who have done crawls or recs on how to approach it. I think one category missing was Al pastor (to don't eat pork so I'm not super well versed on good spots), or maybe just a classic regular spot like Leo's.
