I've seen people mention how the daisy vent flops all around. I'm going on 10 years of owning this thing, and never had an issue with it. I "lock" it in with the handle. Doesn't move an inch. And no, it's not rusted shut 😅

I’ve never had any issues with mine

If the screw is kept at 12:00 it won’t flop when lifting the lid. Your hack is even better.

20 years ago, I swapped the screw out for a wing nut. On my Primo too.

OMG – let’s just say my Sunday is “made” now thanks to this. I am sure I would have discovered it myself eventually – 10 years is not a long time to have not realized this.

  5. I upgraded to a stainless steel “hat” type vent. Works great, looks cool, keeps the rain out, doesn’t rust.

  6. I’ve used the same daisy vent for over 15, sure it has some rust, but it works like new. No issue with movement, and if it does move I simply put it back to its original position. But I guess after using the same BGE for so long it becomes second nature.

  7. I like this and will try it.

I just place the hinge side facing me – so when the lid is raised the wheel does not shift.

Mine has 22 years of cooking on it, and still moves freely – but I am sure the cook grease helps.

I put mine on 180° from the way you have it in the picture so that I can use the letters to keep it in position with the handle as backup.

If you use it enough, it aint ever loose haha.

I have to hit mine with a hammer or something to break it loose sometimes. I prefer my daisy wheel over the other twist cap.

I align my tab of the daisy wheel to the back so it doesn’t have gravity move it around. I haven’t taken the daisy wheel off in years and seems like mine is stuck on. Have you guys had this and did you tap it with a rubber mallet to get it free?
